SUCCESSO DELLA MATER DEI ALLE OLIMPIADI DI ROBOTICA!

La XVI° Olimpiade di Robotica delle Filippine, conclusa lo scorso 15 settembre 2017, a 4F Cyberzone SM Annex, North Edsa, Quezon City, è stata un grande successo. PRO è una competizione annuale che riunisce  squadre formate da alunni provenienti da diverse scuole pubbliche e private delle Filippine. Le squadre gareggiano nella costruzione e programmazione di robot. Sono quindi stimolati a  migliorare la loro creatività, il loro pensiero computazionale e le loro capacità nel trovare la soluzioni dei problemi che man mano incontrano. “Sustainabots: Robot per la sostenibilità” è stato il tema proposto per quest’anno.

Nella categoria SHS Creatività (Aperta),la squadra della Mater Dei Academy, MDA EONS, ha vinto sulle altre scuole con la loro invenzione, il progetto THJES, un robot che incorpora tre fonti rinnovabili di energia: idroelettrica, energia solare e gravità. Inoltre, il Progetto Thales ha sensori che possono rilevare il pH dell’acqua e il livello di ossigeno. Rileva anche la qualità dell’aria. Questo progetto mira a sostenere il lago Taal dove morirono tanti pesci nel 2008 e nel 2014. Tra i membri del team figurano Karen Claire C. Garcia (terza superiore), Justine Paul B. Cordovilla (terza superiore) e Jerold Markus T. De Guzman (seconda superiore ).

Il tema scelto della nostra scuola elementare, MDA WILDLIFE PROTECTORS, è stato classificato terzo nella Divisione elementare della categoria Creatività (aperta). I membri del team, Mary Gayle Andrey M. Ferre, Pubblic Hannah O. Antivola e Alfred N. Go presentarono MANGRO-BOT, robot “piantatore” di mangrovie. Mangro-Bot mira a sostenere le comunità costiere piantando mangrovie. I sensori GPS e Ultrasonici sono anche parte delle funzionalità del robot. Il team tecnico SHS Technical (Regolare) MDA, Patrick John C. Garcia e Christian James Pasco, hanno ottenuto il 5 ° posto su 36 squadre di diverse scuole. Parteciparono anche alle categorie Tecniche (Regolare) per le scuole elementari e scuola superiore , Philippe Rae V. Varias (6° elementare), John Matthew V. Kong (6° elementare), Angelo Liam Andre Israel (terza media), Christian Kong (terza media ) e Jose Maria M. Cabrera (seconda media).
I partecipanti con i loro allenatori, Amador Rosario e Miss Annabelle N. Delos Reyes, esprimano la loro gratitudine per questa meravigliosa esperienza e ringraziano Sr. Ma. Luisa M. Nemis, SMDC e gli altri amministratori scolastici per il loro sostegno e fiducia.

SHS MDA Eons rappresenterà le Filippine a San José, in Costa Rica, per l’Olimpiade MONDIALE  della ROBOTICA  (WRO), che sarà celebrata dal 7 al 15 novembre 2017.
I membri del team MDA Robotics (studenti e allenatori) ringraziano il Signore e  tutti coloro che hanno contribuito a vincere questo concorso e per avere l’opportunità di rappresentare il proprio Paese e diventare l’orgoglio di Tagaytay City.

The 16^th Philippine Robotics Olympiad concluded last September 15, 2017 at 4F Cyberzone SM Annex, North Edsa, Quezon City was a huge success.  PRO is a yearly competition which exhibits competencies in building and programming robots and enhances creativity, computational thinking and problem-solving skills.  “Sustainabots: Robots for Sustainability” was this year’s competition theme.  Technical and creative categories were joined in by teams from public and private schools all over the Philippines.

In the SHS Creative (Open) Category, team from Mater Dei Academy, MDA EONS, topped other schools with their entry, PROJECT THALES, a robot which incorporates three renewable sources of energy: hydropower, solar power, and gravity.  Furthermore, Project Thales has sensors which could detect water pH and oxygen level.  It also detects air quality.  This project aims to sustain Taal Lake where fish kill was experienced last 2008 and 2014.  Team members included Karen Claire C. Garcia (Grade 12), Justine Paul B. Cordovilla (Grade 12), and Jerold Markus T. De Guzman (Grade 11).

The Grade School team, MDA WILDLIFE PROTECTORS, placed third in the Creative (Open) Category Elementary Division. Team members, Mary Gayle Andrey M. Ferre, Julka Hannah O. Antivola, and Alfred N. Go presented, MANGRO-BOT, a mangrove planting robot.  Mangro-Bot aims to sustain shoreline communities by planting mangroves. GPS and Ultrasonic sensors are also part of the robot’s features. The SHS Technical (Regular) Category MDA team representatives, Patrick John C. Garcia and Christian James Pasco, were awarded 5^th place among 36 teams from different schools. Other participants in the Technical (Regular) categories for Grade and Junior High School were Philippe Rae V. Varias (Grade 6), John Matthew V. Kong (Grade 6), Angelo Liam Andre Israel (Grade 10), Christian Kong (Grade 10), and Jose Maria M. Cabrera (Grade 9).  Participants and their coaches, Mr. Amador Rosario and Miss Annabelle N. Delos Reyes, expressed their gratitude to this wonderful experience through the support and faith of the school directress, Sr. Ma. Luisa M. Nemis, SMdC, and other school administrators.

SHS MDA Eons shall represent the Philippines in San Jose, Costa Rica for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) this coming November 7-15, 2017.

MDA Robotics Team members (students and coaches) expressed gratitude to the Lord and to all who contributed to their success in the competition and to be given the opportunity to represent the country and become the pride of Tagaytay City.
